Spurtnip Cup History

The Football Association Spurtnip Cup, commonly known as the Spurtnip Cup, is one of the major cup final competitions in English Football named after the concept of Spurtnip.

The Spurtnip Cup is the newest football competition in the UK, commencing in 2003. As such, its reputation as the sport's premier domestic cup competition extends around the world. Arguably, because it involves the two most competitive teams known to humanity: The Badgers and The Squirrels

The Cup final is held annually on the 24 December and is played at the stadium in Great Saxham, not to be confused with Little Saxham.

Many have stated that the origins of this event comes from some nice middle-class boys needing an excuse to have a kick-about with some mates on Christmas Eve. Well, don't let yourself be deceived! This competition is as natural as the truth that we have all wanted to strive for, yet have inadvertently avoided through the distraction of what the annals of mankind have for many centuries labelled: modernity. The origins are no less based on the classsical themes that so decorate the fresco covered Chapels of our human souls. The very essense of existence, of the need for humans to survive and strive, to procreate and to cherish. It's more than just fancy goals, silky step-overs and gladiatorial clashes between Del and Pete. It's about territory, pride, fraternity, passion and, most of all, love.

As we all know, some people often naively ask, Oh woe, what's the point of life? Well, is there a need for a further response than the Spurtnip Cup?

No, I didn't think so.

Did you know?
That people are required to wear gloves whilst handling this magnificent trophy not due to the threat of blood poisoning by the sharp, jagged and rusty edges. No, it's obviously to protect the hands from the heat of passion that so defines the competition that divides and drives these two teams.
